ROBYN COLLIER

Australian Wilderness Artist

Renowned for the capture of light in her work, painting in oils has been Robyn's passion for at least 38 years. Although self taught she comes from a creative family - her father being a very well known Sydney artist - Brian Baignet. Robyn likes the flexibility and strength of oils - making it a medium that suits her needs more than any other.

Robyn has experimented with most subjects but these days is known as a wilderness artist and prefers to paint the natural world and aspects of it. In fact Robyn took up bushwalking and abseiling so she could paint more remote places. She has travelled extensively throughout Australia, painting areas such as Kakadu, Tasmania, the Simpson desert, western Australia’s wild coastal areas and of course the world heritage blue mountains where she lives.

Robyn has always needed to spend time in a place - to 'feel' the emotional and spiritual essence of an area, even though most of her paintings are studio works these days. Time spent in the bush and walking is essential to refresh the soul and keep in touch with the qualities of nature she likes to create. Studio work can be very limiting in its inspiration if time isn't taken to re-connect with the natural world.

Robyn has also made numerous television appearances, had calendars and cards published and written many articles for various art magazines. She has held over 30 exhibitions and has paintings in collections worldwide.

Expanding on her professional career as a visual artist Robyn has for the past seven years taken on more tutoring positions both within Australia and in New Zealand.
